WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE

- This is for you Joe!
NO EXCUSES = RESULTS
(A moment to vent frustrations)

Why, in our society, do we feel we need to walk on eggshells around people who make excuses for themselves all the time? I think its important that we hear the truth every once in a while. But..... in all reality, people don't want to hear it. They want to keep on eating every horrible thing known to man and then complain at the end of the day because they have muffin top. Come on people. All you have to do is move. You dont have to run a marathon. Just go ahead and take a quick walk around the block when you check the mail. Simple stuff. And STOP choosing food over your life and health. Common sense. If you want to lose weight, don't go to McDonald's and get a fatty burger with fries...oh, and an apple pie too cause its "just a dollar". Its all about CHOICE. Choose baked - not fried. Choose olive oil - not lard. Choose what is healthy. We all know what that is. We have all at least heard of the food pyramid and we all know that it includes lean meats, fruits, veggies, healthy carbs/starches etc. No where on the pyramid does it include chimichangas and Doritos.....no...not even in the fine print! Choose to think differently about food. If you eat like the typical "American"...then food is NOT your friend. You need to think of and choose foods that will give you fuel, energy, and life- if you really want to see results. Otherwise, If you want to be overweight, embrace it. Have health problems and be miserable, unhappy, and unenergetic.... and quit telling me about. Please, complain to someone else if your jeans dont fit....unless you are willing to do something about it. I know as a trainer, that is one of the most DRAINING parts about my job. I want to help people....but I can't do it for them. You have to want to help YOURSELF first. And you have to choose to keep on going. Once you make the choice....stick with it.

(No offense to anyone...these choices are hard for all of us. Its not EASY to get up and workout at 6am before work everyday or cook all my meals in advance so I wont have to run to Dairy Queen for lunch....but I do it because I choose to see the BIG picture and not just what will satisfy me for the moment. I choose to do it because I know the end result is worth it. We are all faced with thousands of choices to make every day. Every choice won't be right, but we at least need to give it a shot.)

WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE??

I choose LIFE,
-Jen

AWSOME READ....The same thoughts that go threw my mind each n every day, but never leave my mind....People I guess sometimes need a reality check, but if we are the ones to bring something up, we are the jerks....Nevermind the fact that maybe we would really like to help, doesn't mean we are perfect just because we know more about a certin topic then they do...I wouldn't think someone was an arrogent A hole if I was try'n to fix my car but didn't have a clue what I was do'n and a experienced technician offered me advice or showed me what to do. So why is it so different in "our sport". If people only knew how hard I worked day in and day out year after year to get where I am now, and I'm still nothing too special at all! There...my vent'n for a bit!

With such an excellent post, comes a difficult question. How do you take this post and apply it positively to the people you love? What if your significant other or a sibling is leading a disastrous lifestyle and complaining daily about their weight and how horrible they look and feel? How do you take the lead and help them help themselves? How do you influence change?

Staticefeign,
That is a difficult question. But to answer it....it is different for every person. It is very important to get a feel or read on a person before you go stomping all over them about their weight and so forth....
Some people need to be told the bold, honest, and raw truth.....and for those...they can usually handle it....because they already know it and have come to terms with it. However, others need everything to be stated them positively, sweetly, and with much edification. People already struggle to work out, eat right, and feel happy about their body and the way they look....and saying the wrong thing could ultimately ruin their efforts for good. A lot of people feel "trapped" inside their bodies and it is important to let them know that they are beautiful and that we will work together to bring out the best in them.

There are also those (like my husband and parents) who are just not "ready" to commit to it at all. They go through stages...in and out.....but i just constantly let them know that I love them and that they can do it and I am here for them when they are ready. I also encourage these types of people to do things that they LIKE to do because that keeps them more motivated. Play basketball, ride bikes, go skating.....whatever it is.... a few times a week just to get exercise and not feel overwhelmed by having to be at the dreaded gym.

This blog is truthful and honest....and how i feel a lot of the time. But by no means do i just wail on my members, clients and family like this on a regular basis!
