MMA FOR KIDS

So I really like watching the UFC/MMA fights....like last night on Spike. Did any of you catch the UFC Fight Night featuring Silva vs. Irvin?? Well, it was a great show. All the fights rocked....especially that last one! Anyway, this morning on the news, it was showing all of these videos of little kids fighting in the SAME style. I'm all about kids being involved in sports and even martial arts because of the self confidence, discipline, etc. that comes with the training and competing.....but after seeing the videos of the kids.....I was kinda freaked out.
I am just interested in some of your thoughts on this style of fighting for kids. Is it crossing the line? Is is a little too gruesome for 6-8 year olds? Is it teaching them the right kinds of disciplines?

Check out this video and let me know your thoughts!

Silva is the man right now in UFC. A lot of people felt boxing was gruesome enough and then MMA came into the picture. As long as the fighting is in a controlled environment like the octagon or ring, I have no problem with it. The real problem lies when the moves are used outside the ring or octagon.

I didn't see the Silva vs Irvin fight, but I saw the earlier ones.. Good fights.

I don't think I'm into this type of fighting or any fighting for that young of kids. You have to have so much aggression and violence for that type of thing. I don't think at that age the kids can separate that from every day life easily. Sort of scary at would could come from it...

I thought the following two videos would be of interest in regard to the kids and MMA. The first is an expose on the kids practicing this sport and the second is a debate about it with none other than Mr. Frank Shamrock defending it.
