THE SKINNY KID

"The Skinny Kid" was not uncommon to me growing up. I can't remember a time after i was a baby when I was anything but thinner than every other guy. Growing up, it never bothered me at all. I went day to day with the mentality of "Hey, I'm skinny now, I'll be skinny in high school, and I'll be skinny for the rest of my life, so why the hell even bother to do somthing about it?" Sophmore year rolled around and I was signed up to take a wieght lifting class at my school. At the time I was around 135 lbs, definetly one of the smaller kids in the class. I was still young considering the high population of Junior's and Senior's in the class. But just watching them throw a couple 45 plates on the side of a bar and start repping it out was intimidating for me. My weakness was very apparent. I never had touched weights before and boy did it show. That day I put up my four rep max on the bench press at a "whopping" 85 measly pounds. I was so embarrassed.rn Weeks went by and I began to see some small enhancements. I joined a gym outside of school and started going every other day. My father recognizing my new hobby, bought me an issue of Muscle and Fitness. Ever since then its been nothing but 110% in the gym. I quickly began to soak in every bit of information I could so that I could "look like the guys in the magazine." Farfetched for a kid like myself, but I was still determined. 3 Years, 1 Joe Weiders Enclyclopedia of Bodybuilding, and quite a few issues of M&F, I have increased that four rep max over 110 lbs, and have greatly improved my physique. Staying cut was never a problem for me from being naturally lean, but puting on the weight was another issue. In the first two years I packed on 30 lbs, not nearly as much as I had hoped, but it was 30 lbs none the less, and I was content. rn The past few months have been very hard fitting everythign in with the transition into college. The nutrition part is a whole other story all together (cafeteria food yuck!) I've also hit a major plataue as all of my progress has seemed to come to a long hault. The fact that I am a typically broke college student with no funds to get the supps I'm usually taking is having a strong effect too. I was very unhappy wiht my outcomes over the past year, especially since I had been putting in my all both at the gym and in the kitchen for the most part. It was not untill I found this site that gave me the true motivation to stay with it. Seeing how supportive everyone is really helps hardgainers like myself who see little progress after soo much time and effort is put in. To me, RA is a place of knowledge, whether that be learning new exercises, hearing the latest gossip on new supps, or most importantly, helping others. I will continue to put the effort in to ultimately acheive my goals. Being able to track my growth here in the dorm has done nothing less than fire me up even more to get to where I wanna be.
