MY 9 WEEK CYCLE IS ALMOST OVER
Well, week 9 is coming to a close. I decided to do 9 week cycles with 2 weeks off after. Saturday will be my last workout for this cycle and I'm undecided what to do for my 2 weeks. I really don't want to fall into over-training, but I also don't want to lose too much of my progress that I've made. So, I have an idea. I'll do 3 workouts a week. The first workout will be a full body workout, but only one exercise per muscle group and only 3 sets of 6-10 reps. I'm also thinking of making this workout focus on the core lifts for those body parts. The second workout will also be a full body workout, with only one exercise per muscle group, but this one I'm focusing on unilateral movement (i.e. one arm at a time, one leg at a time). I've heard that mixing up the unilateral and bilateral can show some serious gains, so that'll be my goal. For the third workout, I've decided to make it completely body-weight exercises. I'll focus on high reps of pushups, pullups, squats, lunges, swiss ball crunches and v-ups, chinups, and the myriad other exercises that I can think up.
My goal for each workout is merely to get a solid sweat going but make sure I don't work out longer than an hour. I want to keep things simple. On my days off, I'll be focusing on doing other forms of exercise like Yoga and Pilates. I've done both before and I really find them enjoyable. I don't tend to push myself to ridiculous limits with either, so it should be a good way to get in a solid workout without weights.
I have reached a few of my short term goals. My body fat is right around 10% for now and I fluctuate between 205 and 210 every day. I think my next cycle will see the addition of the Vassive line of products from ON. I started buying them bit by bit until I had the full line. Once these next 2 weeks are up, I'll determine if I'm ready to start a full on heavy cycle.
When I think about my progress, I realize that it has been 9 weeks since I started this. To some, 9 weeks is a long time, to others, it's not. I'll keep doing this increment by increment until I have my Rome built. Just like Indigo82 said, Rome wasn't built in a day. We all have our designs laid out in our heads. It takes determination and effort and it's all built block by block. I've laid my foundation, it's time to start building.
