YOU CAN DO IT

I was listening to Jason Ellis the other day (he has a radio show on sirius, not sure if anyone here is a fan) but he was talking about getting older and staying in shape. He was discussing how at some point some of us find motivation to stay in shape, whether it be for an event or just for our own personal gratification and how it gets harder as you get older, have a family and a full time job as opposed to being 20 and in college with nothing else to do with your spare time. I found this to be true (for myself anyway), this last summer semester killed me I had not been to the gym in 3 weeks because of tests and papers due I just did not have enough time in the day, sounds like an excuse but it is not! Stress can be so detrimental in so many ways and it is easy to see how there are so many depressed overweight people, which leads perfectly into the next topic that I think could help change a person in many ways.

He spoke about getting older and not being able to do certain things or be in the same great shape as when you were younger, he said its bullsh&t and I have to say I agree with him. He said if you let your mind believe that this is true then it will never happen but if you just keep pushing hard and believing in yourself then anything is possible. Why can't people start skateboarding at 35 or learn a new sport, if you think this is true then you are dying everyday instead of living because the truth is whatever you think you can do, you should at least try and not let anyone convince you that it is stupid or impossible because if you never try then you will never know that in fact YOU REALLY COULD HAVE DONE IT and living a life full of regrets is just like not living!

So to all of you with full time jobs, kids and every other kind of stress that is a part of life, keep pushing and start doing whatever makes you happy or can take your mind off life for an hour or two. Make a list of things that you want to accomplish and little by little start checking them off, maybe it is as simple as doing an extra 15 minutes of cardio or maybe it is learning how to surf, whatever it is DO IT and never look back.

so true, so many use age as way to mentally allow themselves to believe they can't. It is an easy excuse to come up with so many people turn to it.

Failure is never an option if you try, no matter what your age is

Good reminder Tami. I have really been focusing on just what you are talking about. I let life get to me for a while there, and my fiancee kinda helped make me see it, even though I didn't want to. By not doing the things that I really WANT to accomplish and not developing myself, I was actually letting down all the people who need me. Now I'm finding time to do these things and all of life seems easier rather than harder. You can do it!
