This is the best how-to for bench press I've seen so far. I'm gunna print out those steps and hang it up on my school's gym wall.
I was aware of all the tricks except for the minor elbow adjustment (and the need to re-adjust your elbows at the start of the next rep).

why bench press? its the number one cause of muscle tears in gyms all across the world. inclines are both a better chest isolater and much safer excersise.
i will add though that proper form can reduce the chance of tearing your peck but the chances are still too high for my liking.

"why the bench press"? I'm competing in the Pump & Run at the Arnold in 2 weeks and the "pump" part is a bench press competition. I was very happy to watch the video and pick up a tip that will help my performance and decrease my chances for injury.

I am with Brad on this. I do inclines and declines. That works the entire muscle and takes most of the risk out. I hate to see people in the gym bouncing the bar off their chest. One day a guy in our gym was using the neck pad off the squat bar under his shirt so he could bounce it even harder. Haven't seen him since, so he may have hurt himself.
