Hey guys, just wanna ask your opinion about glutamine...Do you really need to down this after cardio? I read an article about it though...If so, how much (in grams) do you need to consume?
GLUTAMINE
Whenever you put physical or mental stress on your body, your muscles are robbed of the intramuscular stores of glutamine, which is essential for the proper use of protein. In other words, any anxiety you feel, and even weight training itself, can keep you from building muscles as quick and efficient as possible.

Glutamine is hit or miss for some people. Wait for more answers before determining a dosage. Good to have more than one opinion cause I'm no expert.
I take 5 grams as soon as I wake up and another 5 grams right before bed. This seems to be working great for me.

5-10 grams 1st thing am, 5-10 grams around workout time...before n after is best, then 5-10 grams before bed....its a staple for me, its cheap n it works! I recover much better, and I rarely get sick either.

I think you should cycle off any supplement you use every couple of months, including such things as bcaa's. Your body adapts to everything.

My protein shake has 5 grams of glutamine in it. If I supplement with additional glutamine my body shakes. I don't know why this is, but check your supplements before adding any others to your list, as you may be taking it already.
So when you cycle how long do you not take the supplement? 1 week or longer? Also how long? 3 months on 1 week off?
I was planning on taking glutamine as a post-jogging (if you might call it). Read an article about it, says to prevent muscle loss cause you can loss muscle along with fat...Dunno if this is true though
Post Score: 2 merits
I take 5 gram of glutamine and whey protein isolate every morning, and another 5 gram before to bed.
I feel my muscle is fast recovery and also my body immune system get better. As I know glutamine supp that we take do not need any cycle because our body need it everyday especially for someone who have more activity, exercise, weight training.
in some good whey protein products they also already contain a little dosage of glutamine. Give a try of this supplement and feel the difference. I also try this supp after listening/read those IFBB Pro said about this supp and seek it in the net.

Glutamine is one of those supplements that you can take year round. 5-10 grams is great post workout with your recovery shake and the same amount included with your casein before going to bed.

hello Adrianne
Yes, it will be good for post workout. I take 30gram of whey protein + 5 gram of glutamine post workout.
I also take it while in my rest day.
Glutamine is really a good supplement, give a try of it. I asked a nutrist doctor and he said glutamine also can be taken from food that we eat but there is a reason that we can not have enough glutamine from food that we eat, so it's safe to use it as supp.
ask some IFBB Pro if you need some more advise, there are many of them in this RA and all of them are very friendly :)
