Do bodybuilders really do cardio or do they just diet to look like the way they are?

Of coarse! Espically in contest prep, I know some who do cardio 3 times a day in the final weeks before the show! I manage to do pretty well with only 1 30 min session a week cause my diet is on point. But when I'm ready to get shred'd...cardio is the key to take me to the next level and get me where I need to be! Also, cardio is key for many other benefits other than just getting ripped!
Some define themselves by their education or their career...Others define themselves by their salaries and material acquisitions...but whatever it is, I choose to define myself by my passions

I believe it comes down to body type, myself being a cross between EndoMorph and a Mesomorph i tend to do best with moderate to high amounts of cardio when cutting and only one or two moderate cardio sessions when i am maintaining or bulking.
Cardio will not do anything if your diet is not in check. Many people also do loads of cardio just so they can eat more i have seen this happen with a few of clients and its an excuse they use LOL.

for a 170LB person how much carbs should they be taking in if they wanted to cut down? and how much cardio?

Most people do cardio to be healthy and hopefully see the finish product while some bodybuilders just diet to help them out.
i believe its all diet...unless u have more than 15lbs to lose of fat then u need cardio..but if your carrying that much muscle and very lean, you can get down to your goal my diet

Circiut trainig and drop sets will do the same. When I got up near 260 impact of any kind was brutal!

Diet is key but check out the older generation of bodybuilders who did cardio compare to our generation. They wanted to do cardio while some of the young guns just want to diet out & not work on their cardio. The heart some exercise too.
i do low intensity cardio, i stay at the target heart rate

When I first started to lose weight I did an hour cardio 6 days a week and it worked wonders for my heart health.
I don't mind short cardio sessions of up to 30 minutes anything over this I go looney and bored LOL.
