Okay ladies and gents, who in your opinion is the greatest body builder of all time?
BEST BODY BUILDER OF ALL TIME
Ya gotta go with The Oak, Arnold. But it's so hard to just pick one. I'll be the first of many to say Arnold, but there's MANY who are worthy.
The governator of course! No one else has achieved the level of recognition among the masses as him.
Even the old ladies like him!

lol lol - great pic, Turbo!! I love it!
Hands down, definitely The Oak.

Arnold is the easy answer because he was the innovator and I do love him. But was Babe Ruth a better baseball player than A-Rod or Pujols (okay, I am not a baseball fan so sue me if the comparison is skewed, but you know what I mean!)? Put Arnold at his prime on the stage today and guys like Coleman and Cutler would eat his lunch. Of course, with innovations in training, supplementation, and the other, um, "help" these guys have available who knows what Arnold would have done?
I just don't think you can answer the question without considering guys from the more modern era like Coleman. I have to throw props at my fave from the 80's Lee Haney as well!

1) Steve Reeves: set the standard that the greatest bodybuilders of every generation measure themselves against.
2) Bill Pearl: built the most hardcore pre-drug physique of all time.
3) Dave Draper: overcame more obstacles and hardships than just about anyone I have ever known - the living definition of hardcore.

I totally agree with V Del, Arnold brought the sport into the "mainstream" but didn't have the total package....Total package guys I think are defnitaley Shawn ray, Frank Zane, Lee Lebrada, Kevin Levrone, Lee Priest, and the most under rated build I think anyway..Charles Glass
Some define themselves by their education or their career...Others define themselves by their salaries and material acquisitions...but whatever it is, I choose to define myself by my passions
what would you guys have thought if Sly Stallone chose a bodybuilding career? he was pretty ripped by the time he made Rocky 4...
Dear Lord you done took so many of my people
I'm just wonderin why you haven't taken my life What the hell am I doin right?

I say Arnold but if Arnold was in our time now, how much would Arnold weigh to be Mr. O? The Oak taught us all of things in one way or another. That's why he's the best!
i personally like the classical physique over the bodybuilders of now.
i say arnold, but overall i really liked frank zane's physique over any other builder.
just my thoughts!
old forum too. lol

I'd go with the classical. I personally like Arnold over Ronnie. Not saying what some of the latest and greatest have done isn't beyond impressive, but look on google. They have a picture of Ronnie next to Arnold and I think Arnold stomps him.
Arnold vs Coleman
The V-taper is so impressive. It's more than just size, it's keeping everything appealing.
But I think a lot of guys were great then. I'm actually partial to Arnold's friend Franco Columbu.

Gotta agree with Dave, i prefer the classic physique that Arnold, Zane, Columbu, Ferrigno and others brought to life in Pumping Iron. I feel like its more visually appealing than the "uber-mass" physique of some of todays bodybuilders.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing. You determine your own level of involvement.
