TRAINING WITH A COLD

I caught the dreaded cold. It's a mild one, and symptoms ease up a lot after medication. So, I get an itch to go to the gym. After gaining holiday weight, the gym is definately something you can't skip. What do you guys think about training with a cold?

I found no difference , I try to sweat out the fever with a workout , everyone has different symptoms & recovery time. I guess each one of us has a way to work with a cold. hope u feel better.

Hi Prudence, Sorry you caught the cold! I'm just recovering myself. I tried to train with my cold but I was horribly congested that I hard time breathing and stopped. I had to wait for a few days and took as much medication so I can fight it. So I guess it depends how your body will react when you workout.

Thanks for your Welcome. And yes, I will be putting up some recipes in my blogs. I'm currently creating a Fitness Cookbook with my Trainer.

Please feel free to ask questions or leave comments.

Cheers!

Hi Pru,

Good rule of thumb, if your aching from the neck up (stuffy nose, headache etc.) than you should train...if your whole body aches, joints, tummy, etc. do not train....simply rest until your body is ready for the stress of a good workout. Happy New Year!

I trained with my cold and it lasted about 2 weeks! If u want ur cold to clear up fast, take a few days off...if it doesn't matter cause u want to train, go for it...it just might take longer for u to recover from ur cold and ur train'n sessions cause ur body is try'n to recover from ur cold and ur training!

thank you guys...so many good tips. I never thought about the recovery. It might be overload trying to recover from a cold and a workout at the same time. I can always count on you guys!

I tend not to train if I have an illness. I wouldn't want to pass my germs around the gym, and I wouldn't want any unforeseeable consequences to trying to lift while I'm in a weakened condition.
