MARDI GRAS IS OVER

what a relief that mardi gras is over! things get so hectic around here...traffic, closed businesses, special hours, a ton of tourists, street closures...did i mention traffic? a lot of my friends actually start their diet and exercising after mardi gras. you just have to indulge during this time. i guess thats why i haven't made it on here in a while. i took a break from lifting because i was overtraining my shoulders and back. i was up to 20lb dumbells. its a big gain for me because i vividly remember struggling with the 15 pounders. i used to have to do a 15lb dumbell one side at a time; and i could barely push out 8. how weak!haha. to keep mardi gras weight off, i just did a little cardio 4-5 times a week. now that i've gotten enough rest, i'll be lifting full time at the end of the week. i've been getting a lot of knee and ankle pains lately. i guess i need to take glucosamine more regularly. you actually do a ton of walking when you go out to a parade...thats one good thing. another good thing about living in new orleans is the boiled seafood. i think its an awesome diet food...its boiled, low carb and after you take all that time to peel the crawfish, you're full. only thing thats bad is the salt content. i hope everyone is doing well with their dieting. a lot of you are well into your competition season. good luck, stay focused!

Glad to see you make an increase in weights. I love seafood too, but I never had crawfish before.

theres so many recipes, but none that are healthy. food in new orleans tend to be deep fried or accompanied with bread/rice. i'd have to say the only thing close to healthy is boiled seafood. they have this seafood boil concentrate (no nutritional value) that really adds a kick to cocktail shrimp. some brands are tony chacheres, zatarans, and old bay.
