COMPETITIVE SPIRIT

Although health was a big part in my life I never played or watched sports as a kid. I hated competition. I always thought that some kind of rivalry with a friend would have a disastrous ending. I’ve thought that way ever since now. I guess it was just the way I was brought up in a traditional Asian household.
I now understand the competitive spirit. It goes along with good sportsmanship and being your best. It’s weird that I “compete” these days. I think bodybuilding is more of a competition against yourself. Each time you lift those weights or kill that cardio, outdo your best.

I totally hear you on the whole competition thing growing up. A lot of people in the gym say that I should compete, but I don't think I have that drive to go up onstage and try to look bigger/better than the guy next to me. I have tons of respect to those that pursue a healthy lifestyle! Of course, I'm not putting down anyone that competes either! Competing onstage is just not for me, I guess.

You hit the nail right on the head when you said that it is more of a competition against yourself. When I'm in the gym, my biggest rival looks at me in the mirror all the time - myself.
