BACK PULL OVER

I've been reading alot about the "lost back exercise" called back pull over. Today was back day so I thought I would try it.

Basically you lay perpendicular on a bench (shoulder blades resting on the bench), raise your arms above your head, and pull a dumbell over your head up to your chest.

As with any new lift, I started with a weight much lighter than I think I could handle, just to get the feel of the lift and to not hurt myself with a new move. I did 14 reps on my first set. The second set I up-ed it by a few pounds. Then the third set I added more weight but I still went light, not because I thought I would hurt myself (I have the move down by now) but because, I KNOW I've hit some muscle doing this move that I haven't hit before.... and I don't want to be so sore I can't move tomorrow!

I could definitely tell it worked my back as I had to go lighter on lat pull downs afterwards.

Bottom line on that move, I will definitely keep doing it. I will have to concentrate to keep my back as the primary mover, since I can see how it could turn into a tricep exercise as well.
