KCSTRONGMAN'S BLOG ENTRY
COMPETED IN THE JOPLIN HIGHLAND GAMES THIS WEEKEND
This was a real nice HG. Joey did a great job period, but particularly for his first show. Did an excellent job of taking care of the competitors. Here is how my day went:
HWFD-Ended up throwing 25'1", which is either a PR, or very close to one-3rd place.
LWFD-Got some resemblence to a spin to work for me for once and hit 51'7". L:ike a 6' PR, and 2nd place-first time I have not been fighting for last in this event.
Heavy hammer-pulled out a 74' throw for 2nd place. Was a couple inches out of 1st. Probably a PR or close to it.
Light hammer-hit an 88'3" throw here. Definitely a contest PR, and good for third
Caber-Flipped the challenge caber, but could not get the feel on the real on, so no flip45 degrees each time. was very irritated here, but good enough for 4th
Sheaf-was unsure here, as I have always sucked here until last time I figured it out-but that was in October. Anyhoo, at 22' I was clearing by 2 ', but on 24', I kept peaking behind the bar-anyhow 22' tied for the win, but I got first on countback.
56# over bar-best it has felt in a long time. Got the win with a 13' throw. Cleared it the first time by several inches. Felt like I could have gone higher.
Braemar stone-29'. Not bad, but not my best by a couple feet. 2nd here.
Open stone-decided to do the fat man shuffle, and it paid off. 35'6", a PR, and the win.
In the end I won for the first time in a B class! Was pretty happy, especially since I had not touched an implement since Thom's games last October
