START OF WEEK 8

Hi Everyone!

I hope your week and weekend has been well. Enjoying a nice 47 degree night here in south FL :) Just wanted to give an update how this last week went for me. I saw the doctor on Monday. Still not back to work yet and he wanted to put me in the hospital that morning. Instead of doing that, he gradually took me off all my meds to see how I handle the week. The week has had its ups and downs honestly. I don't see him again until Wednesday. I can't go back to work until he signs off on a form stating that I can return.

My workouts have been great this week. I had a good legs workout last night and a chest and triceps workout a few hours ago. My workouts have been the highlights of my week. I may be able to get some more training sessions in before the year is out. Just have to balence my budget. I was encouraging seeing my trainer in the gym today with his wife. He keeps in regular contact with me that I greatly appreciate. I'm noticing my weaker areas in my body (upper chest, hamstrings, and lower back) and learning how to better select weights and exercises. I'm also keeping better focus on what I'm doing while at the gym. It's easy to get distracted seeing other people working out and doing the things I can't do. Instead of letting that get me down, I compliment them on what they are doing and wish them well.

My diet is still a work in progress. I was proud of myself today. My sister came home with a box of two dozen donuts for all of us to eat. She said that I need to help eat them. I did not touch a single one and tried not to even touch the box! For me, I still need to work on changing my mindest with the diet. I cook a few meals and prepare them for later, but I never touch it and end up throwing it out. Its a waste of time and money if I continue to do that.

I know the coming week will have it's challenges. Hopefully, the doctor will let me go back to work. If not, I'll be at the point where all of my leave would be depleted and I could be out without pay. There was something I really appreciated from my services today from an experience of a young man living with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. When he felt overwhelmed, he stopped and prayed for three things, a calm heart, patience, and endurance. For me, on a personal note, I can greatly learn from his example and that is something I plan to do each day regarding any trial or stuggle I'm facing.

I hope that your health improves so that the doctor clears you to get back to work soon. And congratulations on keeping to your diet in the face of temptation, you're an inspiration to me! That's a big weakness for me, unfortunately. I used to live in Florida (my favorite state!) and 47 degrees is COLD! It's actually warmer here in Colorado (upper 60's today). Good luck to you and God bless!
