STAYING FIT ON THE ROAD
For the first time in a long time I stayed back to back in two great hotels this weekend on my layovers. A 'great' hotel in my opinion isn't classified by the bed linens, the continental breakfast in the morning or whether or not there is HBO. It all comes down to what their fitness center has to offer. I've been flying now and staying in hotels on a regular basis for 8 years. I am noticing many hotel chains are FINALLY getting it. Business travelers and guests want more than a treadmill and a set of dumbbells in a hotel fitness center. Even five years ago it was pretty difficult to find a hotel's gym that even offered a shoulder press machine. Now, I'm finding the leg press, leg extension/leg curl, chest press, shoulder press, lat pulldown and multi station gyms!
My favorite would have to be the Hyatt. I was in Witchita and Denver over the weekend and stayed at a Hyatt both nights. They have a program they introduced in 2005 called STAY FIT BY HYATT. Basically, it's all the top of the line, new equipment (Life Fitness) 24 hour gym. While a hotel's gym will never replace your hard core, regular home gym, it's refreshing to know that just because you're on the road doesn't mean your training has to suffer.
Below is a link from the TODAY Show highlighting many of the top hotel chain's fitness programs. Everything from providing free Adidas athletic gear and MP3 players while training to brining you your own cardio equipment to your room.

Giving out GPS and MP3 players, haha I love it. I've always been a fan of Embassy Suites which is on the list.
