DENNY'S BLOG ENTRY
HELLO EVERYONE
Hello All,
My name is Denny and I am new to rippedacadamy. I was told that this was a nice forum to get involved in and, after a few weeks of looking around, I can see that it is! A little background seems to be in order.
I worked out all the way through high school (2000-2004). It was really something that I liked and most of the time it kept me out of trouble! It really became a hobby and I was able to set some school records and gained some good friends. However, I've taken 4 years off and I'm getting back into it.
I started working out again back in January of this year, weighing in at 155lbs at 5'8". I now weigh a whopping 180lbs! I have never weighed this much before, in high school I was 165lbs and I never gained, or lost, any weight; I just got stronger... if that makes since.
I've noticed that, getting back into the gym, that I know absolutely nothing about bodybuilding! It seems that I was only scratching at the very tip of the iceberg. However, I did learn a few things; one of the most important, to me, was that bodybuilding is an individual sport, more of a competition between yourself, rather then the person next to you. This realization allowed me to get rid of my ego, allowing me to help the people around me, rather then trying to show them up; which I am thankful for!
Form! Just one of the many things that I just thought that I knew everything about. Funny story! I was doing squats one day and a friend of mine came up to me and told me that I was doing them wrong. I've been doing squats forever, how can I be doing them wrong for this long?! Well, after she explained my error to me, I had to drop half the weight because my hams and butt couldn't take the weight!! Needless to say, I have allot of those stories with allot of the exercises that I do, always trying to learn the right way of things.
My goals seem to change frequently, but at the moment, my goal is to be a solid 185lbs; I think that is a good weight for me. My plan, to reach this goal, is to gain an extra 20-25lbs, a total of 200-205, and then pack myself down to 185lbs; or wherever I end up will be fine by me I guess! Hopefully I don't end up less then 185.
That’s about it; I’ll keep you guys updated with my progress and I’m sure that I’ll be posting a lot of questions. Take care and God bless
