DEBRA'S BLOG ENTRY
IS IT JUST ME
Blame it on the lack of food, the heat or both but, but I am in a cranky place. WHY do people talk on the phone when doing cardio? This morning, I went to do my morning cardio and out of ALL the treadmills available, this lady decided to get on the one right next to me and talk on her phone... at 6:00 in the morning... are you kidding me!!! I'm a mother and the gym is my time to myself, so I thought maybe this is just her time to herself (Lord knows I can't have a phone conversation without hearing "Mommy..." a hundred times!) , but geez... it's six in the morning! I shot her a glance, hoping she would get the picture, but nope... she didn't. So I put on my ipod and turned it up and I could hear her over my music... serioulsy! I was already half way through my cardio and didn't want to move. I thought to myself 'I'm being tested!'
When I finished, I wiped down my machine and left. As I was walking out the door, I looked back and she was STILL on the phone. Clearly, if you can carry on a phone conversation and do cardio, you're not working hard enough... but that's just MY opinion.
Well, I finished my session but it wasn't one of those great cardios where you leave feeling like a million bucks. Instead, I left annoyed and it has carried on throughout my morning. My day will get better - once I eat!

At a YMCA, there's a guy who almost always gets a call, will sit on his piece of equipment and talk for 30 mins. It seems he always starts talking on the machine I want next haha! Why can't he just get up and talk in the hall?
My college gym doesn't allow phones on the weight floor, so I'm lucky there!
Next time you could pull off the emergency stop cord and let him/her walk right into the display screen. :)
There is a right place and time for that... the gym is not meant to be your office unless that person plans on accomplishing little to no exercise.
Scruth, stick to your college gym!
Dovie, you named my 2nd pet peeve in the gym... hanging out on the machines (especially when I'm waiting to use it!)
And yes, Joe, my day got better (especially when I looked at you and Kayla's ON add!). And trust me, the thought of bodily harm has crossed my mind!
