IN CASED YOU MISSED IT BEFORE 7 WEEKS 20LBS MY MIXED MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING

What's up, Gang for those of you don't know me my name is Brian Rogers and compete in mixed martial arts. I also am a graduate assistant at the University of Akron where I am a strength and conditioning coach.

This article will tell you little about my current situation, training schedule, and favorite supplements.

In my last blog I wrote that I was recently selected in (august) to be on a new mma reality show for BET. Well originally that fight an taping for the show was suppose to take place in October or November. At the time of the tryout in late August I was 218 lbs. For the show I agreed to fight at 185lbs which is middle weight and 20 lbs less than my usual light heavy 205lb class.

I began training hard for right at the end of August because I that I only had a short time to drop the weight. I got myself down to about 197lbs in by late September early October, but then discovered the show was being moved back till late December or late January. So since then I have relaxed quite a lot ( binge on junk) on my diet and went back up to about 212 before calming storm and getting back to 205lbs. I just started back my dieting this week and it is easy to maintain my weight between 200-205. However to go down from there I must up my morning cardio and be more consistent. I never miss my mixed martial arts training but have have not seen a good reason to do cardio at 430 am like previously.

Until now that is, in order to keep busy my MMA trainer has me taking a fight December 1st at 185lbs. I haven't fought since August 4th an I don't want to get rusty. so Now with the Reality show in question, an my first fight at 185lbs I have to get re focused and get back on the horse. I have trained hard since late August but have slumpt off as I said previously in early October with delay of the show.

With the new weight drop and two important fights brewing, I have enlisted the help of some familiar friends an products. Ripped academy member Summer Montabone helps structure my nutrition and helps with my conditiong. I usually meet with her two or three times a week do sessions focusing on conditioning that focuses on anaerobic power, agility, plyometrics, and overall explosiveness designed to simulate fight like situations.

As I mentioned earlier I am a strength Coach at the university of Akron. My job requires me to at the weight room anywhere between 5:30am and 7:30am. As you can imagine I have to get up pretty early to do that first morning cardio. I typically run 3-4miles or do some sort of interval sprints. (I hate Jogging). If I am short on time or not very motivated I will hit the elliptical.

Also some evenings for my mma training we have harder workouts than others, so the elliptical during the day is a easier alternative to heavy condtiong.During the mid-day I typically lift 3 days a week, focusing on developing power, but lifting heavy to help preserve strength while I am dropping weight. I do these exercises in sort of circuit like pattern, to work on conditioning.

So although I may do a heavy set of presses I may hop up and an upper body agility polymeric super setted with it , and then a lower body drill as well. (like walking lunges, quick feet agility box or line drill, jump squats , jump rope. I try an do anaerobic plyos drill at a acerbic cardio pace. The days I don't lift I meet up with summer to train or sometimes lifting an her cardio is on the same day.

In the evenings my days focus on something different each day. Each day has a little of another area mixed in but for the most part the day is devoted to that skill.

Monday: Kickboxing with wrestling takedowns..full go sparing with head gear shin guards and boxing gloves...training is desinged to simmulate a three round or more fight. rounds are 5mins long. kettle bell conditiong an tire training after.

Tuesday: Kettle bell conditioning and tire flip training, followed by wrestling and brazailian jiu-jitsui submission wrestling training.

Wednesday: Tecnical training One on one or very small group training with either : kickboxing or boxing training focus mits heavy bag , wrestling or ground & Pound

Thursday: Boxing day full go sparing with head gear boxing gloves .. heavy bag work focus mit work....followed by a 2 mile jog.

Friday: Anything you want to work on.

Saturday: technical stand up training, shadow boxing focus mits, heavy bag work...followed by wrestling brazillan jiu-jitsui, submission wrestling training.

I have a few favorite supplements that help me get through the week. Without a doubt, when I am dieting and feeling sore and beat up my glutamine keeps me going. If I go without for a few day I feel it and it stinks. 2nd Speed Shot, I can fall asleep sitting stright up in a chair (much like your grandfather). You could be talking to me one secong and the next I will be snoring. Lastly Whey protein, and our Pro-complex. On a side note banana cream pro complex is delicious!!!

hope you enjoyed!!
Ill Keep you up to date
