BEEFCAKE GIRL'S BLOG ENTRY
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
As I get ready to start my season after what has been my toughest contest prep yet, I am so thankful to have such a web of support around me. So many people have helped me prepare for this show, I am astounded by how kind people are!
I'm thankful to my friend Dolores for letting me stay with her in Jacksonville, and my friend Elisha for buddying up with me to do tans and calm nerves :), my roomate Briana for helping me plan and cook, to Natalie and her sweet 14 year old daughter for coming over to help me portion my food and vacuum seal it, to my friend Dave who is helping me with my tan here before I leave for the show, and to all the girls who have donated time and supplies (things I did not have time to get!): shoes, Jan Tana, you name it! And of course to my clients and all the gym patrons who are so interested in what I do and how I do it...it cracks me up that some of my 60+ yr old clients will log onto Muscular Development for my results!!!
I also am thankful to my other fitness friends around the country who email, IM and text me just to see how I'm doing...it really keeps me going!! And to everyone on here who shares their own stories and struggles...I feel like I am not alone in my quest ;)
VERY importantly, I'm thankful to ON/ABB whose sponsorship allows me to compete at all. Food and supps are expensive and I want the best...I am so LUCKY to have them behind me, these are the products I have used my entire career! It is so easy to promote a company who has done suh wonderful things for me, health wise and competitively!!
Of course a big thanks goes to Mike, my trainer. He has written and rewritten diets to accomodate schedule issues and injuries, he has trained me specifically for my needs (even in a group setting) and he's taken the time to actually ask me mentally how I'm doing. The only thing he ever says is, "It's no problem, you're worth it." He has worked really hard to get me back on stage this season and I really appreciate his watchful eye and caring approach...he knows how far I have to be pushed to make it into this show but he knows the limits of my body and mind and refuses to let me do anything to jeopardize my health.
When I step on stage this weekend, I may not totally look like I usually do (not YET...wait til the Europa!!), but I will still be very excited and pleased (and eager to see if this look might actually work for me!). Through the efforts of many people (and of course myself!) I have overcome the injury and worked through the crazy schedule.
Thanks to all of you for your support...when you see my pics from the show, know how happy I am just to be there competing :) The rest is gravy :)
