Transition
by: Joe Lyons - August 4th, 2008The past 2.5 weeks I've been in my own bed for 3 nights. I've been to training for work, new locations for work, and taking Jess to Jacksonville for her show. It seems I can't get settled anywhere. I'm constantly on the go, and I have something new around the next corner. Jess is now planning on competing at the Europa in two weeks. I will be working the show with ON/ABB and Jess will be putting on coats of pro tan/jan tana.
I've joined a new district for work, and it's the polar opposite from the one I started with. Getting to know a new culture and manager will take a little patience, understanding, and flexibility.
My competition future is up in the air. I was thinking of doing Nationals for a while and then wanted to take some time away from the stage. My decision was made for me because I have a guest appearance/posing on the same day as the Nationals. That rules out competing completely. Now, I need to get in shape to represent ON/ABB in November. It will be a good experience and a chance to meet some new people. I will have to start my diet soon because I don't want to have to kill myself the final few weeks before the event. I'll have to decide when to start that transition soon.
The one constant during this whole experience has been my training. I haven't missed one workout the entire time. I've had to workout at 4:45am and also at 10:00pm to make sure I get all my workouts in. My workouts are my escape from reality for a while. A chance to let go of my daily stresses and focus on me. It's also the one daily activity I truly enjoy. If I didn't take the time to relax a little and let me mind rest I would be a complete mess. LOL
Sorry I haven't been around as much, but you can see why. I did follow the USA's as much as I could and I thought the ON/ABB athletes represented themselves well. It's a tough show with the best of the best battling for a top spot. Congrats to everyone that competed!
