The sport of Bodybuilding
by: DannyStevens - August 1st, 2008Looking from the outside in, normal people really will never quite see what goes into this sport. Between the restrictive dieting, excess amount of sweat-dripping cardio, the pounds of weight tossed around the gym and all the other things that go into it, it's tough work. And really, what's it all for? Most bodybuilders will never grace the pages of Sports Illustrated. You'll never see a show telecasted on NBC during prime-time, if at all. In fact, when compared to most other mainstream sports, Bodybuilding/Figure really doesn't see half of the publicity every other sport does. Yet, for the one's that do it, we love it.
This sport is almost subculture like and I don't think we'd want it any other way. We like being different, we like not being like everybody else, we like being unique. Words like Whey, Pro Complex, Amino, Deadlift, Casein are words only our "kind" knows. It's a foreign language to most everyone else.
We train to no end. We work our tails off for months (or even years) to stand on stage for 15 minutes. We test our body's breaking point day in and day out. Yet when it's all said and done, whether you're a bodybuilder, figure or fitness competitor, or just a person who loves to train, we can't get enough of this stuff. It’s our sport, and it’s what we do.

It is so true people really don't know the dedication it takes to step on that stage for a few moments! Good read!

They don't know or can understand from the outside. This is a sport which can only and only be understood from the inside.
