Possible Show Stoppers

by: CindyMartinez - May 13th, 2008
60As I prepare for my 2008 competition season, unforeseen circumstances at work have been impacting my schedule and mind set. The past month at work has been a roller coaster with lay offs and reorganization.
Not only am I forced to endure the emotional impact of losing colleagues that I have worked closely with for years, but also maintain my training intensity and mind set knowing that I may have to pull out of a show because of work travel.

What is the best way to deal with this?
Today I woke up and made a commitment to myself to mentally treat “work” and “training” as completely separate entities. I know that's the way it should always be, but its very hard to not let one affect the other.
If I need to travel for work, I will not "worry" about how it will impact my training. I will Travel and Train without WORRY and thought!!

So as the season progreses, the goal is to continue to train with high intensity and disregard “possible” show stoppers that arise from work resposnisibilities. If I am not able to make the show, because of my work responsibilities, the plan is to replace “show time” with photo shoots.

I will keep you all posted on my status.

Great way to look at your situation, Cindy. My company just went through some layoffs and re-orgs so I know what you mean there. Best of luck to you!

Great attitude to have Cindy. Life's curve balls can make training and prepping for a show much more difficult. If you can separate them like you plan, you'll be so much better off in the end.

Good luck Cindy!
