81There are two kinds of people in the world, the ones who float through life taking things as they come, and there are those who set goals. Often times the people that float through life wonder why they're not where they want to be. . . but where DO they want to be?

Individuals who set goals do things a little different. They try to figure out what it's going to take to achieve those goals and form a plan. There was a recent study done on graduates from Yale University that looked at the number of graduates who set goals and how many actually achieved those goals. Only 3% had even set goals and put them down on paper. The results indicated that the people who had set goals were more successful after graduation.

What does this all have to do with fitness? Everything! Ever notice the people that come to the gym and look lost? They go from one exercise to another with no direction. Likewise, there are people that come to the gym and seem very methodical with what they are doing. They are doing particular exercises with a purpose. The methodical people are the ones continuously making gains. The people that look lost often times look the same 6 months down the road.

The same thing applies to nutrition and reaching your goal of a shredded six pack. You have to plan out your meals for the day in order to get all your nutrients and to eat clean. Everyone has had times when they didn't have food prepared, and ended up at the local drive thru eating very high calorie foods. Plan ahead to avoid any setbacks on your way to achieving your six pack.

If you want to achieve the body you picture in your mind, take a moment and set a plan. If you don't know how to get there, find a qualified trainer to help you set a plan. The article by Brad Davis on consistency is a great place to start. If you have a moment you should read it. Setting a solid plan and being consistent on the little things will add up to big changes.
