Offseason update
by: DannyStevens - December 15th, 2009I hope everyone is doing well and for the Midwest people, staying warm! Things are well with me. I'm moving into my off-season training and feeling great. Weight's at about 225 in the AM and I feel very comfortable here. I'm obviously quite a bit "softer" than what I was a month ago but I'm seeing my strength get back up and I feel great throughout the day. I'd like to slowly climb up on the scale and try to "harden" up in the process. Staying leaner is definitely a goal. I'm a lot less concerned with the number than in the past and more concerned with how I look and feel.
Calories are high, about 4,500 a day. I'm doing a totally new approach with both my diet as well as my training thanks to ON's very own George Farah. Let me just say that I'm blown away so far. I'm actually doing cardio year round now and I hate to say it but I actually like it! It really helps metabolize all the food I'm eating and keeps energy very high.
As for my next show?!? That's TBD. With only 5 credits remaining until I am DONE with college, that's definitely a priority right now. I figure this is a good time to grow and build on my weak points while finishing school. I'm in no big rush to get on stage (but I'm starting to feel that itch coming!) since the last time I took a full year off, I made great improvements. I want to step on stage the next time looking even better. Collegiate Nationals is always in the back of my mind and the fire is always raging!
Until the next time RA!

Danny what sort of diet changes did you and George make compared to last year

Awesome! I'm a huge advocate of always keeping cardio around in some fashion. I think keeping your vo2 max up only leads to better performance in the weight room. Move more blood/oxygen and build more muscle.

Ben - Supplements are coming from Platinum Hydrowhey (which I'm now a HUGE believer in!!!), Casein, & lot's of ON BCAA's & Glutamine powder. Lots of food this time around which I like :) Also have brought my protein down from what I'm used to and carbs up. So far, I'm really liking it!
Agreed Ben!
