Modifications To The New Workout

by: Sean Royer - September 8th, 2008
1290As a bodybuilder, we all spend a lot of time "listening to our bodies". I have done just that in correlation with my new workout. When consulting THE ENCYCLOPEDIA I made a monster of a workout. Plenty of variety and TONS of volume. In fact too much volume. Six sets per exercise was just too much, and I was having trouble in the recovery process from the sessions. Throw cardio in there and you have it, too much fatigue. That kind where sleeping 9+ hours still isn't enough. So I modified the workout.
I took off one set, basically the first set, and then increased the weight for the new 1-5 sets. The reps are a bit lower, and today it worked out just fine. I also added a bit more glutamine and creatine to the pre and post workout shakes. The next change came in the form of Pro Complex pre workout. The post now has 3/4 scoop 2:1:1 recovery and some added Waxymaize. Talk about a "spike" post workout.
I often make slight changes to the regime and it reminds me of how much our bodies tell us things. Some simple and others more complex. Listen to these clues and modify!

I don't understand the post workout drink. I've been sipping my 48g whey after lifting and eating white bread. Don't you need more than 23g or protein post-workout? (Based on 3/4 of 30 g per scoop)

Joey,

The post workout drink has 3/4 scoop of 2:1:1 recovery, 1 scoop Waxymaize and 1 scoop 100% Whey protein, with glutamine, Bcaa's, and creatine.
